On Sunday afternoon, a four-goal second period helped lift the Boston College Women’s hockey to a 5-0 win over the Maine Black Bears.
Both teams traded chances in the first period, but no one could find the back of the net in the first 20 minutes.
The Eagles broke the tie two minutes into the second period, as Sophomore Julia Pellerin scored a goal on a BC power play to make it 1-0 Eagles. Freshman Alanna Devlin added BC’s second goal just eight minutes later. Sophomore Molly Jordan notched her fifth goal of the season in the 14th minute of the game.
Pellerin got her second in the game, and BC went into the final intermission with a score of 4-0. Then, in the third, Pellerin got her third goal of the game and is the first Eagle since 2022 to earn a hat trick.
Junior Goaltender Grace Campbell made 30 saves and earned her second shutout of the season and the sixth of her career.
This team is starting to play good hockey and win games. But they must keep winning in Hockey East play if they want to win a title. With the Women’s Beanpot tournament coming up soon, they need to score early, defend, especially on their end of the ice, and close out games.
