No. 1 Boston College Men's hockey team advanced to the Beanpot championship game on Monday night, winning 8-2 over the Northeastern Huskies at TD Garden.
The Eagles dominated in all three periods of this game from start to finish. In the 1st, they controlled the puck in the offense zone and got lots of scoring opportunities. They scored three in the period and got goals by Freshman Teddy Stiga (10th), Senior Connor Joyce (1st), and Grad Student (Captain) Eman Powell (2nd), giving the Eagles a 3-0 lead. Northeastern got one back to make it 3-1.
In the 2nd, from what I saw, they continued to put the game out of reach. The Eagles got two more goals from Junior Lukas Gustafsson (2nd) and Aram Minnetian (2nd), which increased the lead to 5-2.
In the 3rd, it was more of the same. After Northeastern scored a goal to cut the lead to 5-2, BC scored three more goals in the period. Junior Andre Gasseau (9th), Sophomore Ryan Leonard (23rd), and Freshman James Hagens (7th) made the lead at this point 8-2.
Boston College men's hockey is for real. This team has top-notch goal scorers Ryan Leonard, Andre Gasseau, and Gabe Perreault. They have a fantastic goaltender, Jacob Fowler, and a head coach who wants to help this team win another title run, head coach Greg Brown.
BC is one of my favorites in Hockey East to win this season's NCAA hockey championship.
Keep a sharp lookout for this team when the door comes knocking in April.
