Bruins get first win of the season as they beat the Canadians 6-4 in their home opener

The Bruins got their first win of the season, beating the Montreal Canadiens 6-4 in their home opener at TD Garden last night.

 

Jeremy Swayman made 21 saves in his first game since signing a new contract, an 8-year $66 million deal.

 

In the 1st period, Brendan Gallagher opened up the scoring for Montreal, netting his 1st goal of the season on the power-play to give his team a 1-0 lead. Then, Charlie McAvoy scored his 2nd goal of the season on the power-play to tie the game 1-1. After Cole Caufield gave the Canadiens the lead back, the Bruins got two quick goals by Mark Kastelic (1st) and Elias Lindholm (1st) to take the lead at 3-2.  

 

In the second, it was all Boston, as David Pastrnak (2nd) and Cole Koepke (1st) scored two more goals to increase their lead to 5-2.

 

Finally, in the 3rd, Montreal got two goals to cut the lead to 5-4. Then, Mark Kastelic got his (2nd) of the season, and the game for him gave Boston a 6-4 lead, which helped them secure the win.
