Bruins win their season opener 3-1 against Ovechkin and the Capitals

The Bruins played their first game of the 2025-26 campaign yesterday and beat the Washington Capitals 3-1.
David Pastrnak scored his 1st of the season to give the Bruins a 1-0 lead in the second period. Elias Lindholm added a goal (1st) at 7:41 of the third, just 38 seconds after Tom Wilson had tied it at 1-1 for Washington.
Morgan Geekie scored an empty net with 57 seconds remaining.
Jeremy Swayman had 35 saves in the game for Boston. Mario Sturm got his first win as a head coach.
The Bruins went 5 for five on the penalty kill and killed off all 5 of Washington’s power plays.
