Jordan Staal led the way for the Hurricanes in the Stanley Cup Finals, scoring a goal in each of his first five Cup finals games, which is the first time this has happened.
Taylor Hall scored his 7th of the playoffs to put Carolina up 1-0 early in the first period of Game 6. Jackson Blake put Carolina up 2-0 in the second period with his 7th goal of the playoffs. Nikolaj Ehlers sealed the deal with an empty-net goal (8th) in the third period.
Staal, 37 years old, won the Conn Smythe Trophy, which goes to the best player in the postseason. This was his second Stanley Cup; he won his first in 2009 with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour became the 7th person to win the Stanley Cup as both a player and a coach.
Goalie Brandon Bussi was outstanding in net and had his first career playoff shutout while stopping all 22 of the Golden Knights' shots on net.
Hurricanes defenseman Jacob Slavin becomes the second U.S. born player to win an Olympic Gold medal and a Stanley Cup in the same season. The only player who accomplished this feat was Ken Morrow from the 1980 "Miracle on Ice" team.
Congrats to the Carolina Hurricanes for winning their first Stanley Cup since 2006.
