The Celtics beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-88 in Game 5 at TD Garden and won their record 18th NBA Title, breaking a tie with the Lakers for the most all-time.
It was the Celtics’ first title since 2008 when they had the big 3 of Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett.
Jayson Tatum was fantastic in Game 5. He had 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds. Jaylen Brown had 31 points, Jrue Holiday 15 pts, and Derrick White 14 points.
Al Horford gets his first NBA Championship after waiting 17 years. Jrue Holiday is a two-champion, winning a title with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021.
Head Coach Joe Mazzulla, at 35 years old, became the youngest coach to win a championship since Boston’s Bill Russell in 1969.
It was a team win all around. I was so happy and amazed at how this team beat the odds and won a title.
I thought Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown were true leaders. Derrick White Jrue Holiday was outstanding on defense and offense, plus having big games when their team needed it the most. Al Horford was a significant contributor off the bench when KP was down. Payton Pritchard is a spark off the bench and has had some big games throughout these playoffs.
