Garrett Crochet had a strong outing in his pitching performance on opening day against the Cincinnati Reds, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

Roman Anthony had a three-hit game to lead Boston's offense. In the seventh inning, Ceddanne Rafaela delivered a key RBI single. Aroldis Chapman shut the door down in the ninth inning, earning his first save of 2026.

On the Other Side, Reds pitcher Andrew Abbott matched Crochet with six shutout innings and struck out four. Cincinnati's offense was completely shut down all game long and couldn't figure out Crochet.

Great win for Boston in the first game of the 2026 Season.
