Gonzalez signs extension with Patriots: what this means for New England

Great News, Patriots fans: Gonzalez has finally signed an extension to stay with the team for years to come.

Gonzalez and the Pats have agreed to a four-year, $135 million extension with $102 million guaranteed.

He is now the highest-paid cornerback in league history with an average annual value of $33.75 million.

I am glad Gonzalez is staying in New England because he is one of my favorite cornerbacks in the league, and I've been watching his playing style since he played college football at Oregon.

He can shut down a team's receiver and hold them to one or two catches in a game, plus low receiving yards as well.

I am excited to see what he does for the Patriots in this upcoming season. He could be a candidate for defensive player of the year someday.
