The No. 8 Michigan State Spartans played Rutgers at Madison Square Garden and were able to take care of business, winning by seven points 81-74 on Saturday.
Michigan State Freshman guard Jase Richardson led the way for the Spartans with a career-high 20 points. His teammate Coen Carr added 14 points and had eight rebounds.
Jordan Derkack scored a season-best 26 points off the bench for Rutgers.
Michigan State has won its 12th Consecutive win, where the team is riding its longest winning streak since they had won 13 in a row in the 2018-19 season—the most recent of eight teams to reach the Final Four under Hall of Fame coach Tom Izzo.
From what I saw on Saturday, this Spartans team is just outstanding. They have a fantastic backcourt with Jaden Atkins, Tre Holloman, Jase Richardson, and Jeremy Fears Jr. leading the way. Coen Carr, Carson Cooper, and Szymon Zapala can rebound on both ends of the floor and explode on offense when needed.
I can see this team in the Final Four in the Tournament when it starts in March.
Keep an eye on this team.
