Ohio State beats Notre Dame 34-23 in the CFP Championship Game

Antonio DiCesare

Will Howard led the way for Ohio State against Notre Dame and beat the Irish 34-23 to win their first title since 2014 and the program's ninth national championship.

Will Howard was just outstanding in the game against Notre Dame. I saw someone who was a fighter and never gave up. He was a true leader throughout the season. He is one of my favorite quarterbacks in college football and will be a great player in the NFL.

Howard finished the game going 17-of 21 passing for 231 yards and two touchdowns. Running Back Quinshon Junkins scored twice on the ground and once in the air. Freshman star receiver Jeremiah Smith had five catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.

Riley Leonard was a true fighter and leader throughout the season for the Irish and a class act. I saw someone who played passionately and could always make the big in the most significant moments of a game when his team needed it the most. He finished 22-of-31 for 255 passing yards and two touchdowns, one a rushing touchdown. Notre Dame Sophomore Jaden Greathouse had himself a game, six catches for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

It was a fantastic College Football season. Congrats to Ohio Ste Buckeyes on winning the National Championship.
