Patriots introduce Mike Vrabel as the 16th Head Coach in Team History

Antonio DiCesare

On Sunday, New England announced that Mike Vrabel, a Former linebacker, three-time Superbowl champion, and Pats Hall of Fame inductee, would become the 16th head coach in Patriots team history.

He has 14 years of coaching experience, including 11 years in the NFL and three seasons at Ohio State. In 2018, he was hired as the head coach of the Tennessee Titans, where he led the team to two division titles and three playoff appearances during his six seasons at the helm. In 2021, the Titans claimed the top seed in the AFC with a 12-5 record, earning Vrabel NFL Coach of the Year honors.

Vrabel takes over for Jared Mayo, who finished the season with a 4-13 record and lost the chance to get the number one pick in the NFL Draft.

When I saw this news on Sunday NFL Countdown yesterday, I thought this could be a good choice. But I am concerned about what will happen when helping this team out of a slump. Look, Vrabel, in his six seasons with the Titans, only had three playoff appearances. It is not bad, but he will have a lot of work to do.

Drake Maye, what will become of this young quarterback after his first season in the NFL? Can Vrabel help Maye become a better quarterback?

The Patriots offense and Defense were a joke. We could not score a touchdown in the red zone. On Defense, they couldn’t stop the run, pressure the quarterback, or make big plays when it mattered the most.

Let’s hope that Vrabel can turn things around for the Patriots.
