Red Sox beat the Texas Rangers on Opening Day thanks to Wilyer Abreu's three-run home run in the 9th inning

Yesterday was Opening Day 2025, and the Red Sox wanted to make a good impression, beating the Texas Rangers 5-2.

Garrett Crochet made his Boston regular season debut, and I felt he did well. He stuck out four, walked two, and gave two runs in five innings.

Aroldis Chapman pitched a scoreless eighth inning in his Red Sox debut for the win. Justin Slaten saved it with a perfect ninth.

Wilyer Abreu was the star of the game, hitting two home runs, including the game-winner three-run home run in the ninth that gave Boston the lead at 5-2.

I like how the team played well and never gave up.

It's a good start to the 2025 season, but we still have a long way to go. One down, 161 more to go.

Next game:

Tonight (Friday, March 28th)

Red Sox @ Rangers 8:05 pm on NESN

Pitching Match:

Tanner Houck (Boston) vs Jack Leiter (Texas)
