The U.S. Women’s Soccer went into their second group stage game against Germany and won 4-1.
Sophia Smith had a big game today, scoring two goals in the 10th and 44th minutes. Mallory Swanson got her 3rd Olympic goal in the 26th minute, giving the U.S. a 2-0 lead.
Lynn Williams scored her first Olympic goal in the 89th minute, giving the U.S. a 4-1 lead.
Germany got a goal in the 22nd minute, but the game was out of reach after that.
With the win, they join Spain as the first team to secure a spot in the quarterfinals.
The U.S. will play Australia in their final group stage game on Wednesday, July 31st, at 1:00 pm.
