UConn Women’s Basketball ends South Carolina 71 home win streak

Antonio DiCesare

No. 7 UConn beat No. 4 South Carolina 87-58 on Sunday, ending their 71-game home win streak.

South Carolina’s 71-game home win streak was the 4th longest in D1 history.

Azzi Fudd led the way for the Huskies with 28 points and was lighting it up all game long. Paige Bueckers had 12 points, 10 assists, and seven rebounds. Sarah Strong added 16 points and 13 rebounds.

South Carolina, the defending champion, couldn’t respond and lost for the first time at home since NC State beat the Gamecocks 54-46 on Dec. 3, 2020.

Joyce Edwards had 17 points to lead South Carolina in scoring.

This UConn team will not be going away any time soon. I see a team that works together, shoots the ball, and can play fantastic defense. Paige Bueckers is one of my favorite players in College Basketball, and I can see her and Azzi Fudd leading this team to a championship run.

Watch out for this team in March.

Next Game for UConn:

Wednesday, Feb. 19

# 5 UConn @ Seton Hall 7:00 pm on SNY (New York)
