Cade Cunningham Outduels Austin Reaves in Rivalry Battle

On Monday night, the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners met in the Bedlam series for the second time in three days. The 17th ranked Cowboys came out on top against the 16th ranked Sooners 79-75. There was a battle between the two, soon to be, best players in the Big 12 Tournament -Cowboys freshman Cade Cunningham and Sooners senior Austin Reaves. Cunningham finished the game with 15 points and Reaves had a total of 19.

In my book, Reaves should definitely be nominated for the Wooden Award, which goes to the best player in college basketball. He’s one of the best 3-point shooters, can drive to the basket, is a great passer, and a natural leader. If I had to make a list of the best college basketball players from this year, Reaves would be in my top ten.

Cade Cunningham is an amazing passer, shooter, and also a natural leader. His style of play is similar to some of the best point guards in the NBA -James Harden of the Brooklyn Nets, Kemba Walker of the Boston Celtics, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers, and Donovan Mitchell of the Utah Jazz.

According to most experts, if the Big 12 tournament started today there would a be a round 3 between these two teams. Imagine a round three between these two?! If I had to choose a team to win the Big 12 tournament, I would be choosing between Kansas, Baylor, and Oklahoma. The 2021 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Tournament will be held at the T-Mobile Center, March 10-13, 2021, in Kansas City.
