The National Women's Soccer League challenge cup is a tournament played in Utah where all nine teams get a chance to play again after 3 months of dealing with the COVID-19 virus. The tournament will continue until July 26 and can be watched on CBS, Twitch, and CBS All Access.
Each team plays 4 preliminary games and the teams with the most points/wins will advance to the quarterfinals.
The first quarterfinal game was between the number 1 seed North Carolina Courage vs the number 8 seed Portland Thorns. Portland beat North Carolina 1-0 on an amazing goal from #22 Morgan Weaver in the 68th minute for Portland. It was her first goal of the tournament which turned out to be the game winner.
Portland will play the winner of tonight's quarterfinal game 2 between the Houston Dash and the Utah Royals, 10:00 pm ET on CBS All Access.
