On Monday September 21, Game 2 Tampa Bay Lightning beat the Dallas Stars 3-2 to even the series at One game apiece. Brayden Point scored a power play goal to give his team a 1-0 lead in the 1st period. The series is a best of seven and need 4 games to win.
Game 3 is tonight at 8pm EST on NBCSN Rogers Place, Edmonton
Both teams have strengths and weaknesses that will give them a shot to win the Stanley cup. The Lightning have some great veteran players such as Brayden Point, Victor Hedman, Nikita Kucherov, and Andrei Vasilevskiy. They also have an amazing power play strategy and top-notch goal tender Andrei Vasilevskiy. However, there are a few things they could afford to improve on such as their frequent turn overs, break-aways, and difficulty managing penalty kills.
The Stars also have some great veteran players such as Jamie Benn, John Klingberg, Tyler Seguin, Joe Pavelski, and Corey Perry. Like the Lightning, they have an organized approach to their power play. Their defense is also a huge asset, specifically one of the best defensemen in the league John Klingberg. The Stars also have a few things to work on in order to improve their chances of winning such as goal tending and being more aggressive in their offense.
Based on skill, I might consider the Lighting to have a better shot of winning. However, based on strategy, the win could potentially go to the Stars.
