Tatum sets Game 7 record as Celtics beat the 76ers 112-88


The Celtics beat the 76ers 112-88 in Game 7 at TD Garden on Mother’s Day to advance to the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.


Jayson Tatum had a record-setting day on Sunday. He scored 51 points, the most in a Game 7 in history. He became the third player in Celtics history to have 40 or more points in a Game 7, joining Sam Jones and Paul Pierce. Jaylen Brown added 25 points.


Joel Embiid scored 15 points, and Tobias Harris had 19 points for the 76ers. They have lost in the conference semifinals for the third straight year and the fifth time in the six seasons. Also, they haven’t gotten any farther since reaching the NBA Finals in 2001.
