The U.S. men's soccer team needed a win in their second group-stage game, and they beat New Zealand by 4-1 on Saturday.
Djordje Mihailovic scored on a penalty kick in the 8th minute to give the U.S. a 1-0 lead. Then, in the 12th minute, Walker Zimmerman scored his first Olympic goal to provide the U.S. with a 2-0 lead. Later, in the 30th minute, Gianluca Busio got his first Olympic goal, giving the U.S. a 3-0 lead heading into half-time.
In the Second half, Paxten Aaronson scored off a fantastic pass to give the U.S. a 4-0 lead in the 58th minute.
New Zealand scored a goal in the 78th minute, but it was too late.
The U.S. will play Guinea in their final group stage on Tuesday, and they need to win if they want a chance to advance to the Knockout round.
