Bergeron breaks the tie as the Bruins beat the Devils in Newark, NJ


The Boston Bruins beat the New Jersey Devils 3-1 in Newark after losing in a shootout to Ottawa on Tuesday night.


Trent Frederic got the first goal for Boston, scoring his 7th of the season off a great pass from Lindholm in the offensive zone. After the Devils scored to tie the game at 1-1, the captain Patrice Bergeron broke the tie scoring his 14th of the season, tipping the puck off a shot from the point right passed the goaltender to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead in the 3rd period.


Pavel Zacha added an empty net goal, his 5th of the season, to seal the victory for the Bruins. Linus Ullmark made 26 saves in the game and played well. The Bruins improve their record to 29-4-3.
