Boston College storms past BU for their first Hockey East tournament championship since 2012



On Saturday night, the No.1 Boston College men’s hockey beat their rival, the No.2 Boston University Terriers, 6-2 in the Hockey East tournament final. They earned their 12th Hockey East tournament title, the most of any school in the conference.

 

BC Freshman Will Smith had a great game, scoring four goals and two power-play goals in the first goal. BC Sophomore Cutter Gauthier netted his NCAA-leading 35th goal of the season on the power play toward the end of the second period.

 

BC Freshman Goaltender Jacob Fowler had 34 saves in the game and was solid in net.

 

Boston College will now focus on the NCAA Men’s hockey tournament, which starts this Thursday and Friday with first-round games. The Eagles will play against Michigan Tech on Friday in Providence, RI.
