The Boston Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 5-3 on Easter Sunday to break the NHL single-season wins record with 63 wins in a season.
The Previous record was 62, set by the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and matched by the 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning.
Charlie Coyle got the first goal for the Bruins, adding his 15th of the season 47 seconds into the 1st period. Then, in the 2nd period, David Pastrnak scored two goals (58th, 59th) to give the Bruins a 3-1 lead.
Finally, in the 3rd period, Pastrnak added his third goal (60th), a hat-trick, and gave the Bruins a 4-2 lead. Then, Pavel Zacha added his 21st of the season to make it 5-3 and seal the win.
They have won six in a row and reached 131 points, one back of the record held by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens that stood for nearly five decades.
Pastrnak joins MVP favorite Connor McDavid of the Oilers as a 60-goal scorer, making it the first season with two players reaching that mark since Mario Lemieux and Jaromir Jagr in 1995-96.
