KC Chiefs edge out the Houston Texans in OT to clinch the AFC West Title


The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Houston Texans in overtime on Sunday 30-24 to clinch their seventh straight AFC West title.


Patrick Mahomes went 36-41, 336 yards and 2 touchdown passes. He now has 35 TD passes this season to become the fifth player in NFL history with 35 or more touchdown passes in four or more seasons, Joining some elite company Tom Brady (6), Aaron Rodgers (6), Drew Brees (4), and Peyton Manning (4).


Travis Kelce had 102 receiving yards and JuJu Smith-Schuster had 88 yards receiving for the Chiefs. Running back Jerick McKinnon had 10 carries for 52 yards plus the game winning touchdown run in overtime.


Texans quarterback David Millis went 12-24, 121 yards, and 2 touchdown passes in the game. The Texans have now dropped their ninth straight game for their longest skid since losing the final 14 games of the 2013 season.


Kansas City’s streak of division titles is now tied with the Rams (1973-79) for the second longest in NFL history just behind the Patriots, who captured 11 division titles in a row in the AFC east from 2009-2019.
