Michigan beats Alabama in a wild finish in the 110th Rose Bowl Game and advances to the National Championship Game in Houston, TX

On New Year's Day, the Michigan Wolverines beat Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide 27-20 overtime in the 110th Rose Bowl Game in Pasadena, CA. It was the first of two semi-final games. The Wolverines advanced to the national championship game in Houston, TX, and will try to win their first title since 1997.

Michigan quarterback JJ McCarthy was just outstanding throughout the game against Alabama. He finished the game with 221 passing yards and three touchdowns, leading him to earn the Offensive Player of the Game award. Wolverine running back Blake Corum was also terrific, finishing with 19 carries for 83 yards and two touchdowns (one rushing and one receiving).

I like how JJ McCarthy outdueled Jalen Milroe of Alabama in passing, running, and shining in big moments when his team needed it the most. Milroe was not getting in sync with his receivers and not making the big plays. I believe he needs to do better decision-making and not let the hype go his head.

Michigan will play Heisman trophy runner-up Michael Penix Jr and the Washington Huskies for the National Championship in Houston on Monday, January 8th at 7:30 pm on ESPN.

If Michigan wants to win this game, they need to do the following:

-        Put pressure on Michael Penix Jr as much as possible

-        JJ McCarthy has to play his best game ever

-        Stay focused on the game

-        Don't let anything distract you

-        Make big plays when needed
