Red Sox get a big win at Fenway

The Red Sox played the Tampa Bay Rays last night at Fenway Park, winning 6-5 over 12 innings. What an action-packed battle it was! Christian Vasquez tied the game in the bottom of the 9th with a moon-shot home run. Martinez went 2 for 6, with 3 RBI’s, and had the walk-off two run double to win the game in the bottom of the 12th. Vasquez and Martinez really led the team towards an amazing comeback last night!

Pitching was on-point last night. Starting pitcher, Martin Perez, went 5 innings, 5 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, and struck out 6. Perez played a relatively great game but knowing his ability to knock-out 6 or 7 solid innings, I would have expected even more from him. Matt Barnes went 2 innings and struck out 4. It was a classic, all-star caliber performance from Barnes. He met expectations as a potential future closer for the Red Sox. Although last night’s pitching was decent, one good game won’t do it. The Sox are going to have to step it up and maintain performance moving forward if they want a chance at the playoffs.

The Red Sox will take on the Rays again today at Fenway Park at 1pm. The game will not be on NESN this time, instead check it out on YouTube.
