Red Sox top Twins in 10 innings on Verdugo’s Walk-off hit

The Red Sox beat the Minnesota Twins 5-4 in 10 innings on Tuesday night at Fenway Park.

Chris Sale was on the mound for the Sox’s and went 6IP, 3H, 1ER, 2BB, and 11ks in the game.

Rafael Devers gave the Red Sox a 1-0 lead in the 1st inning when he singled to center to score Verdugo. The Twins made the score 2-1 after Carlos Correa’s Sac Fly in the 5th and Max Kepler’s 2nd home run of the season in the 7th inning. The Sox’s tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the 8th.

The Sox came back in the bottom of the 10th inning after the twins increased their lead with two runs in the top of the 10th inning. Reese McGuire singled to the left, scoring two runs to tie it at 4-4. Then, Alex Verdugo singled to right, a fly ball that barely stayed fair and bounded off the low wall in right field just short of Pesky’s Pole.

The umpires reviewed it, declared it a hit, and the game ended. The Red Sox won 5-4 in 10 innings.
