Shiffrin Grabs 6th Gold Medal at World Championship

On Monday, Shiffrin won her 6th Gold Medal at the World Championships in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. At the age of 25, Shiffrin becomes only the second American to win the combined event since Tamara McKinney in 1989. It is very impressive because it has been a while since an American has won this event. She now has 9 world championship medals overall, which is an American record.

Next to legendary skier Linsey Vonn, Shiffrin has been impressive. When I first got to see her during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, and again in the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, it showed me her competitive nature and passion for skiing. She is one of the best for a reason- she’s a fighter, hard worker, and a serious competitor.
