The U.S earns a 5-1 win over Switzerland in the World Juniors


The U.S. Men’s National World Juniors hockey team beat Switzerland 5-1 in their third preliminary round game of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship.


Jimmy Snuggeraud got the scoring started for the U.S. putting the puck past the goaltender on a one-timer for his 2nd goal of the tournament to make it 1-0 in the first period. Logan Cooley scored his 1st goal of the tournament on the power play to make it 2-0. Then Snuggeraud added his 2nd of the game on the power play, his 3rd of the tournament, to make it 3-0. Tyler Boucher scored his 3rd of the tourney to increase the lead to 4-0. Switzerland added a goal toward the end of the 2nd period to make the score 4-1.


Then in the 3rd period, USA captain Luke Hughes brother of New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes, scored his 2nd of the tournament to make the score 5-1. Goaltender for the U.S., Trey Augustine, picked up the win and made 18 saves in the game.
